Role

Assistant, then editor, 1971–1987
Source · medium confidence. Reference for Business says she started at Vogue around 1971 as a lower-level assistant, was an editor by 1972 at age 23, and left in 1987 after about fifteen years. Wikipedia gives 17 years and a 1987 departure with no start year; New York Magazine (via the Wayback Machine) says sixteen years. The length therefore differs by source (15, 16 or 17), and the start year is approximate. The title 'senior editor' is not supported by the sources opened, so the role says editor.
